Earlier this year, I spoke to The Banker about how the UK was facing a tough battle for EU equivalence on financial services. With Brexit complete, UK negotiators were, and still are, striving to reclaim selected access to EU financial markets.
I stated that the UK has granted equivalence in a number of areas to the EU, but it has been vocal in saying it will be doing things differently. This may influence the EU to take a ‘wait and see’ approach before reciprocating.
